A very warm welcome to A Simple Living Journal. I am pleased you are here. Make yourself a drink and cosy up in your favourite chair.
My name is Debbie. I have been writing here on Substack since September 2023 sharing snippets of my life as I continue to explore what it means to live slowly and simply. If you are curious and want to learn more why not subscribe today?
I live in the heart of England, in a small village in the south of Leicestershire. I am wife to Anthony and cat mum to our seven year old black panther called Thomas. If you want to read more click HERE.
By the time this newsletter reaches your inbox I will be on the Isle of Arran sampling the delights of island life.
Normally I would continue writing my newsletters throughout a holiday but this time I want to truly immerse myself into what the Isle of Arran has to offer. And from what I can see it has A LOT to offer.
I will still be writing of course, but more for my own creative journey in the form of nature and observational journaling. I dare say you will see some of what I write in a future newsletter or two.
I treated myself to a gorgeous new handmade journal from the lovely
for the purpose of this trip. Isn’t it just perfect! I think I will be filling the journal up with treasures whilst we are there. So whilst I’m away I’ll leave you with some of my most popular newsletters of this year so far.
It’s amazing what beauty you can find in the ordinary every day moments. Here we chat about finding those precious moments.
The Magic in the Mundane
This is the great challenge: to maintain passion for the everyday routine and the endlessly repeated act, to derive deep gratification from the mundane - unknown
Beth Kempton set a challenge on her social media platforms. Fifteen questions, one a day. Here I answer some of those questions. A behind the scenes look at a writers life.
I loved writing this one, inspired by two lovely ladies here on Substack, Emily from Generosity of Spirit and Victoria from The Autumn Chronicles. Here we look at our lives differently, romanticising small moments where we can.
A Romanticised Week 💖
Romanticising your life means seeing your life in a positive and idealised light. It involves appreciating the beauty and wonder of everyday life, focusing on the positive aspects and finding joy and meaning in life’s challenges.
For more articles, my archive is available for everyone. You can take a look HERE.
I have written the newsletters for the following two weeks already so these will be published on Sundays as normal. I will respond to any comments and questions as and when I can, signal depending of course.
And also, in case you missed it, I started my declutter series in March. A month by month gentle process of clearing our homes and minds. I would love you to join us on this journey of discovery in Slow and Gentle Decluttering
Decluttering has been instrumental to us in finding a simple and slower path. Maybe it can for you too. Make sure you are subscribed so that you receive the next in the series on Sunday …..
Until next time.
Debbie xx
