Hello and a very warm welcome to A Simple Living Journal.  I am so happy you are here. 

A Simple Living Journal explores what it means to live in a slow and simple way inspired by the natural everchanging seasons.  This is a gentle space for all of you who want to embrace a simpler way of living whilst exploring the seasons changes. 

Who am I?

I’m Debbie.  I have been writing on Substack since September 2023. 

I am a creative who writes.  I live in a small village in Leicestershire in the East Midlands, England.  I am wife to my husband Anthony and cat mum to six year old Thomas. 

Thomas, my writing companion.

With big dreams of living a simpler, slower way of life, I write here on Substack alongside working part time as a data analyst.  I have a quiet ambition to move away from the corporate life and immerse myself in a creator’s world.

I believe that nature and seasonal changes play an important part in living a slower and simpler way.   If this resonates with you then you have come to the right place.

A bit more about me (the regular stuff).

I am a reader, mostly when I’m cosily tucked up in bed. I love book shops.

I am a knitter and sewing enthusiast.

I don’t like big parties.  I am an introvert who prefers alone time and at the very most, intimate gatherings with a close friend or family member.

I like wearing the colour pink.

I’m a teen of the 80’s.

I’m a country girl at heart, I hate big cities.

I love woodland walks.

Autumn is my favourite season.  

I am addicted to buying new notebooks.

I thrive on a good cup of tea; Yorkshire is top of the list.

I have a keen interest in spiritual self-help and lunar living. 

I love to travel and explore, especially the highlands of Scotland. 

I love fairy lights and candles.
